on this day of mourning for indigenous americans, i want to make it known and available to those who are unaware of the true history of this holiday.

i am not indigenous, so i will keep my words short. what i will say is that we did not learn the truth in elementary school, where our classrooms were split - one half labeled “pilgrims” and the other labeled “indians” - to come together and feast on popcorn and pretzels. false mythologies are still being perpetuated throughout this country and the world beyond, and it needs to stop.
